76ers Blog: Pre-Game Notes ~ 3/12/2014 vs. Sacramento Kings

Posted 3/12/2014 7:03:00 PM

The 76ers' (15-48; 5th-Atlantic Division, 14th-Eastern Conference) next opportunity to halt a pair of lengthy losing streaks comes against the Sacramento Kings (22-42; 5th-Pacific Division, T14th-Western Conference).  Both teams are having difficult seasons, as their records suggest.  The Sixers have dropped 17 games in a row overall, and a franchise-record 13 straight home games.  Sacramento, meanwhile, is in the midst of a season-long seven-game road trip, and has fallen in three consecutive games.

Tonight, the Sixers not only begin a three-game homestand, but enter a stretch in which they play five of their next six games at the Wells Fargo Center.  When this portion of the schedule ends with a March 21st match-up against the New York Knicks, the Sixers will have just four home dates remaining.   Nine of their final 14 outings will be held on the road.

All things being relative, the Kings could be a ...

76ers Blog: Pre-Game Notes ~ 3/10/2014 @ New York Knicks

The 76ers (15-47; 5th-Atlantic Division, 14th-Eastern Conference) make the short trip up to Madison Square Garden to play the New York Knicks (24-40; 3rd-Atlantic Division, T10th-Eastern Conference) for the third time this season.  So far, the series is tied at a game apiece.  Tonight's road game breaks up a home-heavy stretch on the Sixers' schedule, during which the team has four out of five games at the Wells Fargo Center.

Even though the they ended up dropping a 104-92 decision to the Utah Jazz, the Sixers showed solid resolve on Saturday.  Trailing by nine points with 9:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Sixers set out on an 18-7 run that forced a 91-91 tie with just under 3:00 to play.  The Sixers then managed to score just one point the rest of the way, finishing the night 0-7 from the field, perhaps a reflection of the amount of ...

76ers Blog: Pre-Game Notes ~ 3/4/2014 @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Posted 3/4/2014 6:36:00 PM

The 76ers (15-45; 5th-Atlantic Division, 15th-Eastern Conference) finish a quick two-game road trip with their lone stop of the season at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, the typically-raucous home court of the Oklahoma City Thunder (45-15; 1st-Northwest Division, 1st-Western Conference).  The Sixers will face a steep challenge as they attempt to halt their 14-game slump, taking on the top team in the Western Conference.  Oklahoma City has won nine straight against the Sixers, including a January 25th meeting at the Wells Fargo Center; Kevin Durant had 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists in the 103-91 victory, posting the fifth triple double of his career.

On Sunday, the Sixers looked like they were poised to end the longest losing streak in the NBA this season.  They carried a three-point edge into the fourth quarter against the Orlando Magic, only to see that lead slip away in a 92-81 loss.  The ...
