76ers Blog: Pre-Game Notes ~ 12/3/2013 vs. Orlando

The Match-Up:
The 76ers (6-12) take on the Orlando Magic (6-11) for the second time this season, with the two match-ups coming just five days apart from one another. The Sixers lost to Orlando at the Amway Center last Wednesday, 105-94.

The Sixers are looking to break out of a season-high tying four-game losing streak.  The Magic, meanwhile, have dropped back-to-back games, after being knocked off at the Washington Wizards yesterday evening.

Orlando announced that PG Jameer Nelson (foot) and C Nik Vucevic (ankle) will miss tonight's game.

76ers Focus:
In recent days, 76ers head coach Brett Brown has spoken more urgently about the need for his team's defense to improve.  Over the course of the Sixers' current slide, they have had trouble containing opposing low-post threats, such as Indiana's Roy Hibbert, Orlando's Nik Vucevic, New Orleans' Anthony Davis, and Detroit's Andre Drummond.

During his pre-game media availability, Brown specifically pointed out  that the Sixers have to do a better job helping their big men defensively.

Orlando Magic Focus:
Orlando second-year head coach Jacque Vaughn, who Brett Brown worked with while the two were with the San Antonio Spurs, was quick to emphasize that - unlike the first match-up of these teams - the Sixers will be at full strength, while the Magic will not be.

Vaughn said, 'We'll have more problems with Spencer Hawes and Tony Wroten.'  Hawes missed the November 27th game with a knee injury; Wroten sat out with a back problem.
