Eagle Sign Chris McCoy; Cut Demetress Bell

EAGLES SIGN DE/LB CHRIS McCOY

FEBRUARY 6, 2012 – NOVACARE COMPLEX – The Philadelphia Eagles signed DE/LB Chris McCoy to a three-year contract and released T Demetress Bell.

McCoy (6-3, 261) is coming off of a two-year stint (2011-12) with the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders, where he registered 29 tackles and five sacks. He was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 7th round of the 2010 NFL Draft and spent his rookie season on the practice squads of the Dolphins, Seahawks and Texans. He then signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2011 offseason, but was released prior to the season opener.

McCoy, 26, is a native of Valla Rica, GA and played collegiately at Middle Tennessee State, where he was the Sun Belt Co-Defensive Player of the year in 2009. Overall, he played in 45 games with the Blue Raiders and compiled 107 tackles and 11 sacks.
